Modern man has had the good fortune to enjoy all the facilities that the technological advances of this and the previous century have provided. Never before has he led such a content life. There are gizmos that take care of his every need. Unlike our caveman ancestors, the people of today no longer have to undergo physical strain to complete basic tasks. This has completely eased up their lives.
However, there is a flip side.
Blame It On The Lifestyle
Thanks to all the ease and comfort, people have become physically inert. Today, most adults lead sedentary lives, spending a majority of their times doing jobs that require them to sit for long periods. No longer are they moving about, giving their bodies the exercise it so badly needs. Indeed, this trend is disturbing as even kids have started emulating the adults. Nowadays, you will hardly see any child dashing about in parks. The chances are, they are firmly glued to their video games, playing for unbelievably long hours!
And, if this scenario wasn’t enough, the eating habits have also changed. Gone are the days when fresh fruits and vegetables, along with wholesome home-cooked meals decorated the dinner table. People have become accustomed to eating unhealthy fast food, easily ordered and delivered straight to the doorstep. This no-fuss and all-fast attitude towards food has had quite a detrimental effect on people.
Unhealthy eating habits and lack of exercise have become a norm of modern life. Add the generous consumption of alcohol and cigarettes to this equation, and you have got a time-bomb that is just waiting to explode!
All this has played havoc with everyone’s health! Today, a large number of people suffer from the effects of disorders that are a direct result of such unhealthy and sedentary lifestyles. It is quite disheartening to see even kids suffer from diseases that could have been easily avoided had their guardians been a bit more vigilant. Even adults, as young as in their twenties, are now suffering from afflictions that once plagued only senior citizens!
